If you missed the last season of Homeland, well, you're doomed. The twisty political drama overhauled its concept by [two-year-old spoiler alert!] killing off Brody (Damian Lewis) in season three and shipping Carrie (Claire Danes) off to Afghanistan the next year. So beware: without a basis of where the ex-CIA agent's accomplished (or not), the first trailer for season five will baffle. For those in the know: enjoy! As much as one can "enjoy" the neurosis, paranoia, and kinetic mayhem of Showtime's espionage-caked thriller.

Homeland's latest season picks up two years after Carrie's time as an Islamabad station chief. Now she's in Berlin and working security for a private firm. But as we hear in the sneak peak "You can take the girl out of the CIA, but, you know." Season five features old friends Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin), Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend), and Dar Adal (F. Murray Abraham), as well as Lord of the Rings actress Miranda Otto as a managerial type who looks unpleased with Carrie's new gig. Homeland returns October 9. Binge watch the past and read up on German terrorist plots. You'll need all the footing you can get.
