President Kennedy loved Montblanc pens. So did Cold War power broker Michail Gorbatsjov, not to mention Jackson Pollock, and downright hero, Anne Frank. Superior functionality and beautiful form turned these German pens into a worldwide status symbol. And then came computers, email, and the decline of the handwritten word.

But don't worry, because Montblanc has a new, elegant answer. Montblanc recently teamed with Samsung on two pens, the e-StarWalker retailing for $525 and the PIX, which goes for $350. Each are black resin pens that feature a traditional ink cartridge and an interchangeable stylus programed to work with the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, creating, in effect, the first multifunctional luxury stylus on the market.

While wearable tech may be struggling to find it's style, it's nice to know that Montblanc and other traditional kings of the handwritten word are figuring out how to make the switch so beautifully.
